The Johnston Smillie Charitable Trust is now approaching its second anniversary and, despite the difficulties of the last two years due to the pandemic,  it has been a great journey for us so far.

We have raised and distributed over £20,000 to several charities and organisations.  The latest round of donations agreed in the last month are:-

Citadel Youth Centre £2,000
West Lothian RDA £2,000
Steps to Hope £2,000
Edinburgh Young Carers £1,000
Fife Young Carers £1,000
MYPAS £1,000
Therapet £1,000
Pain Concern £500
Oliver’s Trust £500
Ukraine Aid from Callander Fund £500

The fundraising efforts to date have been brilliant and included:

  • Some of the team participating in the Kiltwalk (simultaneously in both Scotland and Spain!)
  • Our annual fundraising lunch last November, which we were delighted to be able to organise after having been prevented by the pandemic from holding this in November 2020
  • Staff, friends and family taking part in sponsored events such as the Chester Marathon and the charity Business Fives tournament in Edinburgh
  • Donations from our staff
  • A Christmas hamper raffle
  • A Grand National Sweepstake
  • Reclaiming gift aid on the donations made

This year we hope to raise even more funds as we see the return of events such as our Ladies Afternoon Tea and Charity Quiz.  Our annual fundraising lunch will also take place in November 2022.

Details will follow about the Ladies afternoon tea and our annual fundraising lunch. The date for our Charity Quiz is Thursday 26 May 2022 at the Edinburgh Sports Club.  If you would like to enter a team of four, please contact Rona Burns  The cost is £100 per team which includes supper.

As our charity is young and not yet that well known, we still have funds available to distribute to worthy causes and would welcome applications for donations. Ideally, we are looking to support charities, clubs and organisations based in the Lothians, Fife, Borders and Central belt where any donation will make a  real difference.

We are keen to let people know that we are here to help, so please pass on our details to anyone who is involved with or knows of a charity or local club or organisation that needs assistance.  The club or organisation does not need to be a registered charity but we would look for there to be some form of governance in place.

To apply for funding please send an email to charity@jsca.co.uk and let us know what level of funding you require and what you would use this for.
