Two new funding packages worth £15 million have been announced to support the tourism sector as it continues to feel the impacts of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Hotel Recovery Programme

Firstly a £14 million Hotel Recovery Programme will be introduced to help secure up to 3,000 jobs at Scotland’s larger hotels until the start of the summer 2021 tourism season.

Eligible businesses will be able to apply for individual grants of up to £250,000.

The Programme builds on the existing funding and support for tourism businesses through both the Creative, Tourism and Hospitality Hardship Fund and the Pivotal Enterprise Resilience Fund.

Further details for this grant will be announced in due course.

Boost for Self-Catering sector

A £1 million fund to boost Scotland’s self-catering sector will also be available to businesses that have been unable to access any financial support during the Covid-19 crisis.

The scheme will be delivered through a partnership between the Association of Scotland’s Self-Caterers (ASSC) and VisitScotland.

Successful applicants will be eligible to receive a one-off grant of £10,000. Applications for the fund will go live on Monday 3 August for 7 days before closing on Monday 10 August.
