The Electric Vehicle Charge Point Fund provides a one-off payment to tourism businesses in Scotland to help cover the cost to install an electric vehicle (EV) charge point.
What funding is available?
The funding will cover 75% of the total cost of the EV charge point and installation (including applicable VAT) up to a maximum of £15,000. The business must pay for the remaining cost.
Note that the business will need to pay for the installation upfront and will receive reimbursement later from the Energy Saving Trust.
Is my business eligible?
The business must-
- be a tourism business and be marketed as a tourism business
- be based in Scotland
- be classed as a micro or small or medium-sized enterprise (SME)
- have been trading for at least 12 months
- have an appropriate space in which an EV charge point can be safely installed and used by visitors and staff
- own the land on which the EV charge point is to be installed or, if the property is leased, have written permission from the landowner for the installation
To be eligible for funding, you must obtain a quote from an Energy Saving Trust approved installer. As the grants only cover part of the cost, they recommend that you source multiple quotes to obtain a competitive price.
Please read the full list of eligibility criteria on the Energy Saving Trust website: –
How do we apply?
Applications are open now until 8 September 2022 (or earlier if the budget is used up before this date).
Before you apply, you must get a quote from at least one approved installer. Once you submit your application and all supporting documents, the Energy Saving Trust will respond within 15 days.
Once your grant is confirmed in writing, the offer will be valid for 6 months.
You will need to arrange for the installation with the approved installer and pay the invoice upfront, then submit a completion report to EST. Once this is approved, you will be reimbursed.
Next steps
Visit the Energy Saving Trust website to read the full eligibility criteria, including details of the application requirements and process.
You can then complete the application form and submit your supporting documents to the Energy Saving Trust
Important information
There is limited funding available, and it will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. There is enough funding to cover around one hundred charge points.
As a condition of the funding, following installation, the EV charge point must be made available for visitors or guests to use. The business may charge for this service.
Funding is not available for installations that have already taken place or for installations already in progress.
