There has been growing press coverage about 4 day weeks to give employees the benefit of more time away from their work to recharge and spend extra time with their families. Having been closed on a Friday afternoon for more than 10 years the natural progression for us, to improve our staff’s working environment, was to look to close the office all day on Fridays.

After several meetings and discussions amongst directors and senior employees we therefore introduced a 4 day week with effect from 1 April 2023. This is for a trial period of 6 months to ensure that there is no adverse impact on our clients whose needs are at the forefront of our thoughts and core values.  Although the compressed hours give longer days for the team from Monday to Thursday, the flexible start time means that they can be in early enough to be finished by 4.15pm and not work at all on a Friday.

It is early days, but we received very positive feedback from several clients when we announced the trial and the reaction from the staff has also been very positive.  The extra day at the weekend has enabled staff to go for a long lunch or on a day out with their partners, collect their children from school or go away for a long weekend without having to use up precious holiday entitlement.

To date the response has definitely been encouraging and the 3 days off every week definitely feels far longer than ‘just a normal weekend’.

If you think that this working pattern would suit you then please check our current vacancies and get in touch.
