Scottish Government January Business Support Top Up – Hospitality and Leisure

The Scottish Government has announced that The January Business Support Top Up – Hospitality and Leisure will provide a one-off payment to support businesses in Scotland that were affected by the requirements for physical distancing and capacity limits that came into force from 27 December 2021 due to COVID-19.
Is my business eligible?
Businesses must be in one of the following categories:
- public houses
- restaurants
- cafes
- other licensed premises classed as hospitality
- nightclubs
- hotels with bars and restaurants
- conference centres
- music venues
- arts facilities
- sports facilities
- gyms
- leisure centres
- outdoor centres
- cinemas
- amusement and recreation businesses
- bingo
- casinos
- soft play
- snooker clubs
How do I apply?
Businesses that previously received funding from the Strategic Framework Business Fund will be contacted by their local authority and will need to confirm that:
- they are still a registered business
- they were trading at 20 December 2021
- they wish to receive funding
- the details that the local authority already holds for them are up to date
Businesses in the eligible sectors that have not previously received funding from the Strategic Framework Business Fund are eligible subject to required checks. New hospitality and leisure businesses will need to complete an online application form. Further details of how to apply will be provided by the Scottish Government soon.
How much?
The one-off payments for hospitality businesses will be:
- £1,400 for premises which have a rateable value of up to and including £51,000
- £2,100 for premises which have a rateable value of £51,001 or more
The one-off payments for leisure businesses will be:
- £2,050 for premises which have a rateable value of up to and including £51,000
- £3,150 for premises which have a rateable value of £51,001 or more
Individual ratepayers with more than one business may receive an award for each registered business entity.
How long does this take?
Payments will be made as soon as possible in January.
