A new £1 million ‘Scotland Loves Local’ fund is now open with the aim of promoting town centre and online businesses.  Successful applicants will receive a grant between £500 and £5,000.

The funding aims to support small scale improvements that will help motivate people to shop, eat and relax within their community whilst ensuring public health safety.

Applications must be made by constituted groups rather than individual businesses.  The list of constituted groups is extensive, but includes the likes of Local Authorities, Chambers of Commerce, Charitable Community Groups, Business or Trader Associations and Town Centre Partnerships.

Grants can be put towards providing safe shopping information for residents and tourists, the installation of public health infrastructure such as protective screens, physical distancing markers, hand sanitising equipment and PPE.

Full information regarding the fund, along with the application form, can be found here:

The fund closes at 5pm on 25 November 2020.  However it is best practice to apply at the earliest opportunity just in case a flood of applications result in the closing date being brought forward.
