This month we held our annual charity quiz in support of our chosen charity for 2019, It’s Good 2 Give. After a last minute panic to find a new venue, The Edinburgh Sports Club, came to the rescue.
Lea Brash opened the evening, welcoming back Colin Cruickshank as Quiz Master and introducing Lynne McNicoll of It’s Good 2 Give who gave everyone an insight into the charity background and the amazing work they do.
We had a great response again this year with 14 teams entering. There were some great team names too, such as, The Beyonce Know-It-Alls; Nicolson Numpties; Kicking Assets; The Latent Defects; Quizzly Bears.
As always, the Quiz Master came up with some challenging and entertaining questions, one of which had the room singing Rick Astley’s Number 1 hit from 1987, ‘Never Gonna Give you Up’.
After a close-run contest, some good food and few liquid refreshments, E=Mc Hammer (Johnston Smillie) were pipped at the post by last year’s winners ‘We were promised this was speed dating’ (Young & Partners) in a nail-biting tie-breaker.
After drawing the prize raffle at the end of the evening, early counts suggest that the event raised £1,200 which is fantastic.
