As stereotypes go, accountants seem to get it hard.  From maths geeks to dull and boring I have heard them all.

Yes, we may be good with numbers but that certainly isn’t a bad thing as I hope our clients agree.  Our numeracy skills have been able to help keep client’s taxation as low as possible – legally and correctly of course.

Boring?   Well I can’t deny there are some boring accountants out there however I like to think our firm is vibrant and full of individuals who are passionate about what we do with the aim of being a support to our clients.  We want to be actively involved in our client’s business building up strong relationships.

I have put together 5 interesting facts about accounting that you may not have known.  Will it change your opinion on accountants?

  1. Eddie Izzard, Mick Jagger and Robert Plant all worked in accountancy pre fame
  2. Bubblegum was invented by an accountant
  3. It was accountants who initially brought down Al Capone when he was arrested for tax evasion
  4. The 10th November is International Accounting Day
  5. Every year since 1935 a team of accountants has spent on average 1,700 hours prior to Oscar night counting the Academy Awards ballots by hand

Please check out our monthly newsletters where you can get to know our accountants and staff and hopefully we can show you that not all accounting staff are stereotypically dull.
