The Scottish Government has announced that specialist beef producers will receive payments totaling around £40 million in the coming weeks with the aim of supporting farmers and crofters during the current pandemic.

In addition they have processed 469 convergence payments totaling over £760,000 which will mainly be made to new entrants to farming.

The Scottish Rural Economy Secretary, Fergus Ewing, said:

“All of these payments will aid business cash flow, helping to support farmers and crofters to continue to produce the quality meat products that Scotland is globally renowned for – and which we now need on our supermarket shelves more than ever.”
