The Scottish Government employment secretary, Fiona Hyslop, has announced details of the extra £100m funding for Employment Support and Training.  People looking for work or those at risk of redundancy will benefit from additional assistance to move into work or retrain.

  • £50m of the funding will be targeted at helping younger people get back to work.
  • There will be a job guarantee for young people, a new national retraining scheme and more funding to provide immediate assistance and advice if people are made redundant.
  • Fair Start Scotland, the Scottish Government employment support service, has been extended by a further two years to March 2023. Participants in Fair Start Scotland are entitled to up to 18 months pre-employment support and a further 12 months in-work support.
