Auto enrolment is definitely here!

Auto Enrolment is now in full swing with Employers with a small number of employees reaching their staging dates. If the business world did not think that the Pension Regulator would take the non- compliance seriously then the number of fines issued is proof that they definitely are. In both the third quarter and final quarter of 2015, over 1000 companies in each quarter were issued with fines for non-compliance. In the last month, the largest single fine of £10,000 was issued! This was daily fines of 4 days at £2,500 per day.

We are encouraging all our existing payroll clients to let us know what their intentions are and this allows us to get them registered well before their staging dates. We have many who we already have registered whose staging date is in 2017. The number of clients with staging dates is increasing every month and there is no downside to getting registered now – it does not totally commit you to that scheme, does not cost anything – but it goes a long way to ensuring you will not be late registering!
