The Scottish Government has released its Covid-19 tracing app: Protect Scotland. Full details on how the app works and how to install and use it are available at https://protect.scot/
The app is compatible with phones running recent versions of Apple iOS and Android.
Whilst it is too early to comment on the effectiveness of this app, it is a potentially important development in managing the spread of Covid-19. For individuals, the app should act as an aid to early detection of infection risk; for organisations, it should be used as part of the overall staff welfare and risk management strategy.
At first glance, there would appear to be no significant downside to the installation and use of the app and individuals and organisations are advised to consider whether it should form part of their protection regime.
