Employers should be mindful that throughout the summer, TPR will be carrying out short notice inspections on employers suspected of not complying with their auto-enrolment duties.

HM Revenue and Customs share payroll data with TPR to compare against information submitted by employers on their Declarations of Compliance.

TPR compliance checks will review those employees that have not been auto enrolled into a pension scheme, to check if they have been correctly treated, as well as check that the correct pension contribution deductions have been made for those employees paying into the auto enrolment pension scheme.

The compliance checks will be carried out at the employer’s place of business or in some cases by phone.  TPR have warned that enforcement action will be taken against any employer found to be persistently ignoring their auto enrolment responsibilities.

Our payroll clients can be assured that our payroll team have your auto enrolment process in hand and in the event that you have an inspection, we will assist you through the process.
